From 6 Strings to Electronic Beats
Music for me has always been about versatility and execution. My foundation was built on live performance: choosing music over my other passions, playing clarinet throughout four years of high school, holding down the rhythm as the guitarist in Grease the musical, and performing at local Toronto staples such as Supermarket and Longboat Hall.
My production style evolved directly out of necessity. I started by recording my own live guitars, which gradually expanded into creating custom and premade electronic beats. By approaching the workstation with an engineer’s attention to frequency and mixing, I cross-pollinate genres such as hip-hop, R&B, grunge, and folk. The result is music that preserves both technical clarity and the expressive, unquantized pocket of a human performance.

An engineer's mind with an artist's hand
As an engineer, technical drawing is about control—everything is measured to serve a fast-paced development landscape that often flattens architecture. Watercolour is the exact opposite: it is a space where the image cannot be controlled and instead unfolds organically through time. Watercolour captures the atmosphere of a city or landscape torn between construction and erosion. Rather than reproducing a building or landscape exactly as it is designed, I paint to capture how it makes me feel. This practice guides my eye across both our built environments and natural landscapes.
